Furniture Project!!!


I have been working with a group of Young People aged 16 - 19 doing a 'Furniture Project'. Over 4 months we bought old furniture from second hand shops for £2 - £8. These objects were revamped using Decorative Paint Techniques - Mosaics, stencils, Crackle Glaze, Spray Paints, Tortoise Shelling, Paints and Glosses. They also learnt Woodwork Skills and carved designs into Ash Bricks. All this work was placed in a Exhibition in December 09.

Alice in Wonderland Exhibition - Friday 28th August 09













Welcome to Wonderland!
Follow the Arrows & go through the Rainbow Bridge where you will be greeted by Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, if you say 'Hello' - they may tell you a joke...












Then the Cheshire Cat will give Then the Cheshire Cat will give you a cookie (make sure you don`t grow too large!), Follow the Cards towards the Queen of Hearts Garden, passing the Large Mushroom Sculptures on your way...
















YoYou will then pass Alice and her Dream Chair...take a seat for a minute, close your eyes & see if you wake up in Wonderland! The White Rabbit will then hurry past you saying 'Im Late! Im Late! Follow me!' towards the Mad Hatters Tea Party - where the Mad Hatter will join you 'Do you care for a cup of Tea?
IIIIIIIIII I Curated the 'Alice in Wonderland' exhibition in Plas Bellin Woods. There were more exhibits- including a Magical Wishing Tree, a Flamingo & Hedgehog Croquet Game hosted by the Queen of Hearts and a potion with 'Drink Me' to consume! It was an Adventure - a very well done to all the Youth Group who took part!

Murals: Beach Hut and Wheres Daisy? July - Sept 09








I have been working with some females aged 16 - 24 creating a 'Beach Hut' mural for their temporary house. Overall 6 young people helped create their idea of 'Paradise' - an area to relax and chill out in!
I have also been working in collaberation with Peter Willis, an Artist from Cheshire, to create 3 themed wall murals around Save the Family. I am leading on a 'Wheres Daisy' mural which will be finished in 2 weeks, and I have been assisting Peter with 'Jonah and the Whale' and a 'Flower and Butterfly' scene. The garden mural is really bright and looks fantastic - have a look below.


Dream Catcher: Exhibition 2nd - 30th Sept 09; Kelsall, Cheshire

I am exhibiting this year in Mount Pleasant Sculpture Gardens, in Kelsall during September. I am exhibiting a new piece called 'Dream Catcher' which is located just near the entrance of the Japenease Gardens. As you look at the work, take a moment to think of a 'dream' - once you have pondered, and decided on something special, take a dream tag from the white basket and write your wish down. Attach your note to the edge of the web with a peg! I hope your dreams come true!
I am also exhibiting 'Put things into Perspective' which is located on the lawn and 'Spiders webs' 1 & 2 which are in the tunnel.

Alice in Wonderland comes to the streets of Chester - Sun 30th August

Save the Family are taking part in this years Roam the Rows, in Chester on Sunday 30th August, 11.30 - 3pm. The Mad Hatter, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, White Rabbit, Queen of Hearts, Cheshire Cat and of course Alice will be outside No.41 Watergate Street row creating havoc! remember...Dont be late for this very important date!

Road Safety Art Project - Exhibition Sept 09










I am currently working with a collegue on a Road Safety scheme in Neston for Connexions. We are working with Young people creating a car sculpture, herb garden spelling out 'Reduce Speed', Carstallation (Installation in a car) and 'junk art' mobile out of car parts. We are planning to exhibit at the end of September in Neston Youth Zone.
Merseyrail Competition
Merseyrail Competition
I have been working with a group of young people aged 16 - 19 in Ellesmere Port. We have been working on a Merseyrail Competition - to create a posters enticing people to visit. Over 3 weeks we created a photographed image and a catch phrase.
Space
And image 2: a chalk drawing on a concrete wall and floor highlighting key areas in Liverpool - Penny Lane, Beetles, Liver Bird & Radio City. We are waiting to find out if we have been shortlisted!

'Wishing Tree' - 12th December 08

I was commissioned by Chester Performs to create an Interactive 'Wishing Tree' for Something Wishful event in Chester, River Dee on 12th December 08.
3D Stars
I worked with a community group creating 3D Stars, which were lit with battery operated Tea lights & hung from branches.

I am exhibiting at the 'Real Wood Furniture Company' in Woodstock, Oxfordshire. This Installation is for Outdoor purpose and consists of 5 wire spheres...

They are all different dimensions, but at certain angles they look perspectively the same! I have created this to question peoples judgement - things are not always what they seem...

'Up the Wall' during 2nd, 3rd & 4th Oct 08. Installation, Performance & Youth Project

The 'Imagine a world made of wool' Peformance in our very own 'Wooliester' was a 3 day event. Myself, Kathryn Hughes & 6 children from Save the Family took part in singing, dancing & improvised peformance during 2nd, 3rd & 4th October for Chester Peforms.

We were positioned in Chester Cathedral 7 - 10 pm - all 3 days were bitterly cold but luckily we had our woolly tops to keep us warm...


We had a warm reception from the audience/
participants and the Youth group were Fantastic!!!

We did manage to surprise a few by passers on the night -who were simply walking past ready for a night on the razzle, to be confronted with 8 woolly people singing & dancing!

'and nibble on the cakes that we have made.

Savethefamilycowbanana... Youth Project - Completed October 08









I am currently doing a youth project called 'savethefamilycowbanana' with 12 youths aged 8 - 16 from Save the Family.
Superlambanana
we went on a day trip up Moel Famau and saw the 'superlambanana'. We have created a sculpture out of Mod Roc and wire which is 1.5 metres by 1.5 metres - and are going to paint it with waterproof paint and position it outdoors near the entrance of the complex.













We named the sculpture 'Izzy Jazz Hands'

Magic Tree...

I have just finished a youth project with a group at Sunraye. we have done a mosaic piece for the wall titled 'family circles' - there are 9 circles to represent the 9 rooms avaliable!!!

'Something Beautiful' Comp Winners - Exhibiting at RHS Flower Show (Tatton Park) during 23 - 27 July 08


I am a Youth Worker for Save the Family - we did an Installation for 'Something Beautiful Competition' representing the beautiful surroundings and revamping a dead silver birch tree found on site. We called the exhibit 'a new beginning...' and won the competition!!!

This is no Ordinary Twig...
The youth group have also been working hard on a piece titles 'this is no ordinary tree...' and created microphones, rave sticks, telephones, motorbikes, swan-cloud and High School Musical Glasses which got exhibited at NOVA- the Contemporary Urban Centre, Liverpool.
